Bill to regulate pvt educational institutes introduced

Shimla, August 20:  A bill providing for constitution of a three-member Commission to regulate functioning of private institutions and universities in Himachal Pradesh was introduced in the state assembly.

 

The HP Private Educational Institutions (regulatory commission) Bill provides for empowering the Commission to impose penalty upto Rs 5 crore for violation of guidelines set by the government and other statutory bodies.

 

Tabling the bill in the House, Education Minister Ishwar Dass Dhiman said the commission shall have the power to receive and redress in a time bound manner the grievances and complaints that may be filed by students and parents.

 

The Commission would be headed by persons who had served as Principal Secretary for a period not less than three years and the two part time or full time members would be from among educationists of eminence.
